From coming-of-age stories … to futuristic tales of a decimated Ontarian landscape; from personal experience and tips on how to make the most of mentors … to a life-changing discussion on when to wear a hijab; from a town that comes together when a small boy saves a cat … to an introvert’s thoughts on pandemic's signals for personal and systemic growth, these stories resonate with the same frequency: how best to adjust to a new life!
This is the second anthology written by members of the Immigrant Writers Association (IWA), a not-for-profit organization which provides programs, activities, and services that empower and support Canadian immigrant writers in their journeys. EDITORIAL REVIEW:
Overall, this book screams one thing; as immigrants, we connect to one another because we experience similar struggles. And in this process, we learn to overcome challenges and develop an eagerness to support and help each other grow. ~ M.C.
This book deals with the pain of uprooting and the clash of cultures, and yet it contains a sense of potent optimism and togetherness. It is a book that is equally heartbreaking and heartwarming. It is inspiring.~ David Albertyn

About the authors
Claudiu Murgan is an engineer with a deep yearning for writing with a meaningful message. Originally from Romania, he started writing Sci-Fi at 11-years old and was involved in the Romanian fandom until 1997 when he decided to immigrate to Canada.
Inspiration resurfaced within Claudiu after nineteen years of a creative drought. The result of that blessing from God was “The Decadence of Our Souls”, a Fantasy novel touching on spirituality. The journey that culminated with the book mentioned above taught Claudiu that Love, Gratitude and Compassion are necessary life companions that should open one’s sensibilities to the Divine Creator.
Writing “Water Entanglement” was a blissful joy that transported Claudiu into the fascinating world of water and crystals. This new book is the author’s way of making people aware about the importance of water in our daily lives.
"Crystal Cloud", the sequel to "Water Entanglement," continues the journey of Cherry Mortinger (limnologist), Ilanda Mazandir (neurosurgen), and Kahuna Lapa'au (Hawaiian elder), into the world of water and crystals in their search for increased consciousness.
Claudiu's short stories were published in anthologies in Canada, USA, Romania, and Italy.

David Albertyn (1983) was born in Durban, South Africa, and grew up in Toronto, Canada. He studied at Queen’s University and the Humber School for Writers, and coached tennis until the publication of his first novel, “Undercard” (2019), which was a finalist for the Forest of Reading Evergreen Award and made 49th Shelf’s Top Fiction List of 2019. Among many sports, he primarily competed in track and field growing up, then in tennis as an adult. When he completes a draft of a novel, he does as much yoga and running in nature as he can, promptly burns out, and as soon as he’s recovered, it’s time to work on a new draft. His goal is to write visceral novels that are both thrilling and meaningful.

And I think that's what makes this book so great, these completely different fifteen individuals that put their hearts together and shared with the world these stories and their understanding on how togetherness can help a person grow. Add to this, the feelings and struggles immigrants experience, add to this the multicultural environment and you get a compelling bouquet into the psyche of the human mind, a bouquet with rare flowers showcasing how different and special we all are, fragile as individuals and strong in our togetherness.
