This is a simple book, with a touch of magic, and a sweet storyline, filled with nice characters that help build the story and bring it to life. The characters are a bit predictable, but the dialogues are really good. You’ll be able to read it fast and will end up smiling with some chapters. That’s all we can ask from this genre.
Gracie, the adopted talking dog, has quite an impact on Noah’s destiny. When he decides to pick her up from the shelter after yet another ruined date, the young, handsome and eligible doctor has a turn of events. He gets closer to Annie who works in his office and starts taking his life in his own hands. His mom Rosalyn stops hooking him up after she meets someone with the justification to make him happy in love. At that point, all events in the book somehow come together, and there is more than one love story that will melt your heart. For readers who prefer dialogue over descriptions, this will be a candy. Grab it!
The story is pretty simple, we have Noah, a bachelor who doesn't have any interest in finding a wife, but that does not stop his mother from repeatedly trying to find him one. Along the way he gets a dog, Gracie, from a pet shop and from that moment his life starts to become a little bit different.
Like I said, the idea and the execution are simple, it is easy and comfortable to read, the book isn't really too long and you can finish it in one sitting. Characters are good, slightly stereotypical maybe, but I didn't honestly expect something groundbreaking and original in that department. I can easily see this book as a movie, something with Hugh Grant from the 90's and, I don't know, Meg Ryan. It is that type of story, so if you like it, give it a go.

The book starts with Noah as the main character, a bachelor who's mom does everything to match make. However when an adorable King Charles Spaniel enters and the author cleverly turns Gracie into the main character, who takes over from Noah's mom and takes on the role of matchmaker, wanting nothing more than to find her new master the perfect girl as well as find herself a happy ending as well.
Marsha has a wonderful way of writing that captures the saga of a Mother trying to find her son a perfect wife. There's also a wit to her writing that will have you laughing out loud but there is also heart warming moments causing you to be in tears.
The characters are extremely likable and causes the reader to empathise and connect with them. I loved this book and would recommend to all love story fans.
A cute tale of bumbling love and hidden talents. A gentle and clean tale of romance with lots of beauty, well written, good paced never leaving you feeling like you are bored. A couple of moments of go get her but then again for those not sure of themselves I can understand it. A quick and easy read with characters that grow on you and become slightly embedded in your heart.
However it moves far too quickly. The whole point of the story is showing Noah’s transition from a difficulty with dating to how his new dog helps him find love. Within the first few moments of the book, Noah has already met Gracie. I feel like his character as a bachelor hadn’t been established or explored enough before it was changed.
The conflicts that are established in the book are almost instantly resolved, without much friction or difficulty. While this helps the book in terms of make it a sweet, interesting and very readable story, it also contradicts exactly what the story is trying to say.
The characters, however, are interesting and well developed. You can tell quite quickly that Marsha Casper Cook had a very clear idea of who the characters are before she put pen to paper, and to her credit they are well dimensioned. However, they simply aren’t explored enough.
This is a problem that holds the story back as everything is there, just not in enough detail. There are great characters, there is great dialogue that fleshes out and defines these characters, and there is an impressive and interesting story. You just have to look past the actual story in order to find this.
The writing is often funny and captivating. It just does feel like it’s been done before in better ways. If the character of Noah was established before he met his talking pup, then the development would be much more interesting. However, as Noah can only be taken at face value, this becomes difficult.
It’s a super easy book to read, written with a nice flow, so I sped through the first couple of chapters.
The story is all based around a classic man who loves to be single meeting a cat who helps him find true love. He and the cat can talk to each other and the little kitty is never short of inspirational things to say.
A fun read I think this would be a good choice if you want something to read to your kids at night, it’s got a good mix between child themes and topics that will make any adult reevaluate themselves and their own lives.
