Ranger Mason is a wonderful character, she is a nineteen-year-old shifter whose spirit animal has not yet been fixed. She has stumble a few times she is a orphan and a hustler who sometimes becomes a exorcist to scrape a living in a dangerous world. Rael, Zain, Oran and Draven are four sexy hot shifters that are destined to be Ranger's mates. Rael is a Tiger shifter who reads the history, Zain is a Bear shifter who has a lot of pain, Oran is a Eagle shifters who was wealthy before the fire. Draven is a Dragon Shifter his Dragon is almost feral. Their elemental bond could bring fire back to the world. Again Ariana Hawkes and K.N. Knight has created a awesome world but this time she has a partner. Of Ashes And Sin is a consuming all satisfying read, it shows how great their imagination is along with their skillful storytelling. This is a charming written story that allows the readers to understand the discovery of Ranger gifts by Rael, Zain, Oran and Draven. Ariana and K.N creates an atmosphere that full with shifter energy. I really enjoy the emotional drama throughout this story.I want my review to reflect how incredible and detailed the first book in the series is, but without giving away spoilers. Plus I feel like I have no more words to tell you how much you will enjoy this book. I'm totally excited about reading book 2. if you’ve never read Ariana Hawkes please pick one up. If you like Paranormal Romance you’ve got quite a lot of choices. There is literally something for everyone, so please please read her work.

This was an interesting story. I liked how strong Ranger was alone but she really shined when she was with Oran, Zain, Rael and Draven. I liked how Ranger was with Rael and Zain the most. I wish there was a little more of them all together, especially once they were truly bonded but that’s just me wanting more of these characters. I can’t wait too read more books in this series.

This post-apocalyptic story has an interesting premise to the disappearence of fire, after having a raging inferno engulf most of the world. The magical aspect of it interesting but the characters and the world itself were not as well rounded and thorough as I would have liked. While certain results may be necessary, the actions in getting those results weren't necessarily acceptable to me as a reader.
While I consider this book worth my time and $$, it may not be your cup of tea.

While I wasn't too invested in the characters, Of Ashes and Sin had an interesting, unique story line, fast pace, and good writing to keep this reader's attention. The romance progression felt too convenient to me, but I think part of that was because I felt a disconnect to the characters-- not sure why, they were each distinct and had a back story. The romance was too rushed, especially the final male added. Not sure what the title is supposed to mean, and how it relates--another disconnect for me.

Great World Building but Forced Dialogue

Of Ashes and Sin had such a strong start. I loved the concept behind the world and the plot; a world ravaged by wildfires and yet, for the five years following the devastation, no one in that world is able to create fire. Ranger is such a strong character; she’s a shifter and she’s resilient, a survivor determined to get through each day. And then Ranger is kidnapped, manhandled, thrown about (quite literally), and scared by three other shifters - albeit hot male shifters - and that’s where everything starts to go downhill.

Ranger, after being kidnapped, manhandled, thrown about... you get what I’m saying. Well, after Ranger is quite literally scared into shifting, she lets all that go with only a few grumbles about being a lone traveller and falls for her harem. So that didn’t sit right with me but what really made the relationship between Ranger and the three male shifters seem forced, was the jilted and clumsy dialogue between them. I did not feel the connection in the harem at all.

Knight and Hawkes’ world building and creativity got me through until the last ten minutes of the book, once Ranger met the final member of the harem I gave up and put my kindle down. However, DNFing it with only ten minutes to go is insanity so two days later I compressed the ten minutes into five and completed Of Ashes and Sin.

This is an original RH with plenty of steam, shifters (of varying kinds), and further supernatural elements, set in an apocalyptic world. I found the relationship and the dialogue forced but the world building makes it worthwhile giving this book a go. In my opinion, I think this book would make a better movie.
