Konn Lavery

My name is Konn Lavery, a writer and graphic designer, my parents were Star Trek fans and were inspired by the villainous character, Kahn, by his superhuman abilities. So, they named me after him with their own twist on the wording.

It makes sense that I write evil things.

I also have an obsession with transmedia storytelling. The words, the music, and the art I create make one super story.

The Macrocosm Story Timeline

All of my novels connect into The Macrocosm, which is an on-going large-scale story expansion.

The Ash Born series brings all the unusual, horrific, and fantastic themes into view through the creatures, characters, worlds, lore, and tech.

Some of the novels have clear relations to one another while other books are self-contained. Connections can be found within Cultivate: Seed Me Relapse Edition, YEGman, Rave, and the dark fantasy series Mental Damnation.

The short story collections Into the Macrocosm and Beyond the Macrocosm elaborate further on the obscure cosmos.

REVIEW
Filled with murder, mayhem, and uncanny, the award-winning Lavery'sunsettling latest takes readers on a thrilling journey into grit andhorror.

It's 1999. Struggling with the tediousness of the smalltown of Prince George, Seth is ready for the greatest rave of the yearwith his friends. But a brutal murder leaves the group running from theRCMP, unaware a great evil is lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce at the first chance.

Lavery's world is gritty and intense, fashioned from the Canadian Rockies, the vast, desolate woods, mountaincrags, and towns populated by richly drawn characters, each haunted bythe past. Enduring friendships, young adult drama, and high stakes keepthe reader invested.

Lavery handles the mystery plot well andcontinues to build bloody momentum as gore and evil take over, propelling the winding plot to a shockingly satisfying climax. Along the way, he explores friendship, trauma, solidarity, and survival.

Horror fans won't be able to put down this gripping blend of mystery and occult.

Rave had tons of twists and turns that kept me wanting more from the book.By Joanne Ang for Readers' Favorite. Star Rating: ★★★★★
REVIEW
Rave is a work of adult fiction written by Konn Lavery. The story starts with Seth, a young adult who graduated from high school some years back. Ever since then, Seth has been headed in the wrong direction in life, mixing with questionable crowds of people, and always looking for the next best party to get buzzed and hook up with a certain someone... or anyone for that matter. This desperation leads Seth and his gang straight into an unexplainable crime scene, and things keep going downhill from there. Stuck with the dilemma between calling for help and risking being imprisoned, or fleeing the scene and escaping this complicated path somehow, can Seth and his gang find a way out of this screwed-up mess?
Rave by Konn Lavery was spectacularly written. I really enjoyed reading about Seth's questionable lifestyle habits that kept on getting him into sticky situations between lust and drugs. His even more complicated upbringing in his aunt's household gave the character a deeper meaning as to why he became the way he was, adding complexity to the storyline which I appreciate greatly. I loved the gory details of the murders that gave crystal-clear imagery and more attitude to the plot. Rave had tons of twists and turns that kept me wanting more from the book, and I genuinely couldn't stop reading! The additional illustrations between certain chapters were also a very nice touch, one which I found heightened my emotional engagement and enabled me to reflect on what had happened between each chapter. I would recommend Konn Lavery's Rave to anyone looking for an intriguing and mind-boggling novel to read!

A terrifying book set in Canada that shows you life isn't going to be what you expect. Seth is a young man kind of going through the motions. Not certain in his sexuality, no clue for his future, no clue what to do, no clue where to go. Seth simply lives for his next high, the next rave and the next make-out session.

Add to him a small cadre of similarly lost youth and add a serial killer and watch the fun unfold. This book was a scream. It really, at times, makes one wonder what they did last summer.

A very, very accurate portrayal of the rave lifestyle of the late '90s. You can feel you are in the underbelly of society in British Colombia. At times, the gore can really grip a reader. The sense of being hunted leaves a reader on edge. A well-written book, Rave sits well in the thriller genre. Take a journey into the hazy world of raves and then watch out for the sharp knife. Recommended to fans of slasher films and books.

Rave is a fast paced, blood soaked ride through a horrific turn of events for a group of friends, simply looking for an escape from reality. The author does a brilliant job of submerging the reader instantly and completely into the drug induced world of the rave scene. A mysterious and terrifying beast-human interrupts their plan. The story is gripping, the characters are cool and interesting, and the tension is high.

The printed version is a work art of art! This talented author is also a talented artist. Rave is infused with his cutting edge masterpieces reflecting the characters and the atmosphere of the story. It is definitely worth getting the printed version of this book!

Warning: if you pick up Rave, you won't be able to put it down.

A modern horror story that takes place in Canada. The story has its share of horror and violence. The characters all see their share of both, and many lose their life. However, some real shockers keep the reader interested. The story is modern because it deals with a Rave with drug and alcohol using young people entrenched in that culture. The young people have dropped out of society to live the Rave life. All in all, a good story that will entertain the reader.

"Rave" brings you on a literal and figurative trip with protagonist and his friends. Fed up with their mundane life, they hit a rave, seeking solice in the pounding music, bright lights, and party favours. What a bummer, though - there's a murderer chopping heads on the loose! This surprisingly emotional book has gory sides to it, but it lays out the tale of a rave gone wrong so well.

I loved the pacing and characters, and especially where the story is located. It starts out with a disarmingly slow pace then hits fast and hard. And relentless. It was easy to empathize with the main protagonist and his constant self examination and questioning. He is well balanced by is co-protagonist Tanis and crew. Also, lots and lots of gore. If you like gore, you will not be disappointed!
